Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan. Asharq Al-Awsat

Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan has praised the cabinet’s decision to transfer the supervision of the National Museum at King Abdulaziz Historical Center to the Culture Ministry.

The cabinet also authorized Prince Farhan to form the museum’s Board of Trustees.

He expressed appreciation and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for supporting the cultural sector.

The Minister emphasized the continuation of efforts to promote heritage and museum development in the Kingdom where the cultural sector is witnessing unlimited support from the Saudi leadership.

The Culture Ministry has earlier identified museums among 16 sub-sectors on which it will focus its efforts and activities.

The National Museum represents a prominent national cultural landmark in the Kingdom. It was inaugurated by late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz in AH 1419 as part of the opening of King Abdulaziz Historical Center on the 100th anniversary of King Abdulaziz’s liberation of the capital, Riyadh.
