PV Sindhu struggled past Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia 18-21, 21-14, 21-19 and HS Prannoy pulled off a thrilling 17-21, 23-21, 23-21 victory against Lu Guang Zu in the first round. But Lakshya Sen, K Srikanth and the women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand crashed out of Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China, on Wednesday.
Sen lost 19-21, 15-21 to top seed Shi Yu Qi of China. Kidambi Srikanth lost to second seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia 14-21, 13-21.
Treesa-Gayatri faltered against fourth seeded Chinese pair of Liu Sheng and Tan Ning 2-21, 11-21.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto got a walkover in the first round.
