Bad weather: 3 Jaipur flights diverted to Ahmedabad

JAIPUR: With sudden dust storm and heavy rain in Jaipur on Monday night, three city bound flights were diverted to Ahmedabad, said airport officials.

“The domestic flights made rounds in the air for an hour between 9pm on Monday till midnight before being diverted to Ahmedabad. The flights were waiting for landing clearance from airport command and control (AOCC), but didn’t get permission to land in Jaipur. Later, when the weather cleared, all three flights took off from Ahmedabad and safely landed in Jaipur after 1am on Tuesday night,” said a spokesperson of the Jaipur airport.

Officials also said that one flight was delayed on Monday night due to bad weather and took off on Tuesday morning.

On Monday night around 10:15pm, the meteorological observatory at Jaipur Airport office had recorded strong thunderstorms with dust storms with wind speed up to 70-75 kmph. During this, the visibility at the airport was recorded at 600 metre. The spokesperson further said that around three domestic flights were cancelled on Tuesday morning due to lack of passenger load.
