'Bad news' - Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi on his future, transfers and fifth straight defeat

A fifth straight defeat of the season piled the pressure on Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi, as his team fell 2-1 at home to Bristol City.

The Reds mounted a response after a terrible start saw them two goals down at the City Ground, with a Luke Freeman rocket reducing the deficit before the break.

But although it was an improved performance in the second half, Lamouchi’s men remain without a point from four Championship games.

Here’s what Lamouchi had to say at the final whistle.

What are your thoughts on the result and performance?

“It was a different game, but exactly the same mistake. We started in the same way.

“It is just unacceptable to start to play in the second half. We should play the whole game like that, from minute one - with the same spirit as we showed in the second half.

“We created a lot and we scored, but unfortunately it was not enough to come back in the game.

“It was easy for them to play against us and to score. That is not Forest. It is not professional.

“We need to wake up and to understand that everyone needs to take responsibility.

“To say it is because we have new players and a new team is rubbish. We are professional and we have to do our job.

"Our job when we are on the pitch is to run, to fight and to respect the plan.

"To not win the second balls and win our duels, to make easy mistakes, it makes it easy for the opponent to play against us. It is easy for them to come to the City Ground and to score, and to keep the result until the end."

Do you think you will still be here for the next game?

“It is a good question, but I don’t have the answer.

“I hope I am.”

Do you still think you are the man to turn this around?

“I think so, because they showed me a reaction. Without a reaction, I can imagine something is wrong and it would be impossible to change that.

“We created chances and Daniel Bentley, their goalkeeper, made some unbelievable saves.

“It is a bad moment and it is difficult. It is bad news after bad news, bad result after bad result.

“We need to find a solution quickly.”

What are your thoughts on Tiago Silva's departure?

“We need to say the truth.

“When the players ask to leave the club, he needs to say, ‘I want to leave’.

“I was so surprised when I came back after the summer and he said, ‘I want to leave the club, I want to go to Olympiacos’.

“I said to the club, ‘what is your answer?’. But we will see.

“I have said before, we cannot keep players who are not focused and happy here.

“If I am not happy here, I will go. It is exactly the same for the players.

“If the players ask to leave, we need to say the truth - the player asked to leave, that’s it.”

Do you expect any more incomings or outgoings before the international window closes on Monday?

“I don’t know.

“But I will be happy after the window closes, to start to work with my team and my squad, to focus on our job and our results.”

Would you like any more signings?

“I think (the squad) is enough.

“When I was asked a week or two weeks ago, I said, we were probably looking for one winger.

“In this position, we are short, in my humble opinion. We need players to play and to make the difference.

“Joe Lolley is not ready and I put Alex Mighten in, who is young. He created and he played so well.

“The team and the squad is better than last year - in quantity and quality.”
