Bad news for Prime fans - viral drink won't be restocked in Aldi despite huge demand

A viral drink that caused mayhem in Aldi stores yesterday won't be restocked at the budget supermarket chain once supplies have completely run out. Fans of the Prime hydration drink, created by Youtube stars Logan Paul and KSI, who didn't manage to grab a bottle when they went on sale in Aldi on Thursday morning will be disappointed to learn they won't get another chance.

Shoppers eager to get their hands on the viral beverage, which sells for £1.99 but is being resold on the internet for more than quadruple the price because of the huge demand, queued for hours at Aldi stores across the UK yesterday morning so they could be the first to buy a bottle.

Adults were caught on video pushing and shoving children out of the way so they could pick one up, with others seen frantically climbing over the displays to beat the crowds. But with such huge demand comes disappointment, as many shoppers were left unable to buy a bottle.

Although customers were limited to just one each of the three flavours on offer - blue raspberry, lemon lime and ice pop - so more shoppers were able to buy them, supplies still managed to run out quickly in many stores.

Many disappointed shoppers took to Aldi's Twitter to ask them when more stock would be arriving so they could try again - but Aldi have confirmed they won't be stocking Prime again.

One user said: "When will be be able to buy Prime energy drinks again in stores. It is ridiculous how you let them go in like ten minutes and how you allowed this carnage to happen. You should have staggered putting it on the shelves to allow everyone a chance."

In response, Aldi confirmed that Prime was part of their Specialbuys section. A spokesman said: "As with all our Specialbuys, Prime was available for a limited period only and has sold out. We don’t currently plan on restocking Prime at this time, but we will communicate if and when it is available again in future."

They added that the product was restricted to one of each variant per customer to allow as many people as possible to purchase them - but people still said it was "unfair" they won't be coming back.

"Please get more stock of Prime, I beg you," another said.

When announcing the sale of Prime earlier this week, Aldi did make it clear in a statement that it was only going to be a limited sale. They said: "The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on December 29.

"The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone! The supermarket is expecting high demand, so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy the product."
