Bad news for Chelsea as Edinson Cavani made to wait for Man United debut

New Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani could make his Premier League debut against Chelsea.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward, who joined the Reds on deadline day having been a free agent, could have to quarantine when he arrives in the UK.

A report in The Times says Cavani has been living among the population in France and has not been getting regular testing in a secure environment.

It means his debut in the top flight is likely to be delayed as he will be forced to go into quarantine.

Cavani arrived in Manchester on Sunday so will miss his new side's next game - away at Newcastle United on Saturday, October 17 - as he will still be isolating.

He is also unable to train with his new teammates for the time being and is likely to need some time in getting his match fitness back having not played competitively since March.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side take on Cavani's former club PSG on Tuesday, October 20 in the Champions League.

That game is likely to come too soon for the 33-year-old, but the clash at home to Chelsea on Saturday, October 24 could be the game where he makes his Premier League bow.

United'd need for attacking options like Cavani has been increased following Antony Martial's red card in the 6-1 thumping by Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Martial is set to sit out the next three games.
