'Bad habit of conceding' - Blackburn Rovers insider fears Leeds United pressure will tell

Blackburn Rovers are the visitors to Leeds United on Saturday with the Whites aiming to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

We spoke to LancsLive’s George Hodgson to get the lowdown on what has been going on across the Pennines at Ewood Park.

Blackburn currently sit 16th in the league table, six points above the drop zone and seven points from the play-off positions.

1. What's the general opinion among fans on how this season has gone for Rovers so far?

There’s no doubt 16th is a disappointment at this stage after talks of play-off aspirations before the season.

Rovers started well and dealt okay with a tough start, but their run before the most recent international break saw them fall down the table and frustration grow among the fans.

In spells they’ve looked a more than capable side, but a lack of consistency and being able to put in a 90-minute performance has been their downfall.

That said, the feel good factor returned after a late win last time out.

2. Who are Rovers' key men for Saturday's game?

While he hasn’t quite hit the heights everyone knows he can, Bradley Dack remains a threat and has scored five goals this season.

Lewis Travis is an excellent, young midfielder who covers endless ground and brings the energy in the middle of the pitch.

Adam Armstrong has improved as the season has gone on too and is dangerous when he’s on his game.

3. Are there any glaring weaknesses United should look to exploit on Saturday?

Rovers led local rivals Preston North End 2-0 at half-time a couple of weeks ago, but Alex Neil brought on target man Jayden Stockley and he caused havoc.

While long balls aren’t really the [Marcelo] Bielsa way, if the game isn’t going their way it is something they shouldn’t be afraid to try.

Rovers also have developed a bad habit of conceding when pressure builds, if Leeds can maintain that for large spells it will really put the visitors’ defence to the test.

4. Last Saturday's win was the first in seven matches - what's the story behind that poor run?

Injuries have really hit Tony Mowbray hard. Greg Cunningham, brought in on loan from Cardiff, had become first choice left back and was impressing.

He’d played a big part in fixing a leaky defence, but after tearing his cruciate ligament Rovers haven’t looked as secure.

On top of that their centre-half Darragh Lenihan was ruled out for two months which was another hefty blow.

5. What's your prediction for Saturday?

Rovers showed a lot of fight and belief last Saturday to turn a game they trailed in around, against an in-form Sheffield Wednesday side.

That should’ve worked wonders for their confidence, but this is going to be a really big challenge for them and everything points towards a home win.

Rovers have won games away this season, but they’ve lost their last three on the road. Leeds 3-1 Blackburn.
