Bad Bunny Announced As Super Bowl Headliner After Taylor Swift And Adele Dropped Out

Well folks, it’s official: Bad Bunny has been named as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, slated for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in California.

The Latin pop star announced the news in a statement earlier today, saying his status as the performer for the NFL’s buzziest event is a “feeling that goes beyond myself”.

“It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history,” the singer said.

The NFL also shared an announcement video that sees him perched atop NFL goalposts while on a sunset-backed beach.

For his part, Jay-Z — NFL’s official partner for halftime programming, Roc Nation — said “we are honoured to have him on the world’s biggest stage”.

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” Jay-Z added.

While it will mark his first time as headliner, Bad Bunny has graced the Super Bowl stage before. He appeared as a guest performer during Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s set back in 2020, delivering a mash-up of the track “Waka Waka” and “Let’s Get Loud”.

Bad Bunny’s headlining status is well-deserved. The Grammy-winner is among the most-streamed artists in the world, having released hundreds of songs that’ve cracked the Hot 100 throughout his illustrious career, including “I Like It” with Cardi B and his 2025 smash, “DtMF”, among many others.

The news puts to bed previous rumours about who would grace the stage for US sport’s biggest night. Last month, Taylor Swift’s love of sourdough sparked theories she would be 2026’s Super Bowl headliner, but sources claimed today she was “flatly refused” the gig after she requested to be paid.

“She wanted a deal that reflected her value,” an insider claimed. “Without that, she wasn’t going to move forward.”

Adele was also rumoured to be atop the NFL’s list of potential headliners, but removed herself from contention amid fears for her safety in the wake of Charlie Kirk‘s death.

“She is petrified after what happened to Kirk and is living like a hermit in Los Angeles, convinced stadium-scale performances put her life in danger,” an insider claimed.

Bad Bunny will take the reins from Kendrick Lamar, who headlined the event in February at the height of his beef with Drake and was joined by guest performer SZA

Usher snagged the coveted set in 2024, while Rihanna used her 2023 performance to reveal she was pregnant with her second child. Other headliners over the years include Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Coldplay and Justin Timberlake

We’ll have to wait and see how Bad Bunny fares on the world’s biggest stage, but given the certified bangers in his catalogue, he’s sure to absolutely crush it!
