Backup QB Geno Smith returns to practice after knee procedure

Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith returned to team practice Thursday just one week after having a cyst removed from his knee.

Smith was able to start Seattle’s first preseason game against the Denver Broncos and play through the entire first half. He underwent the knee procedure the following day.

While Smith is back to full practice, coach Pete Carroll is still uncertain whether or not Smith will be available to face the Vikings Sunday night in Minnesota.

“I don’t know,” Carroll said after Friday’s session. “Geno did get back on the practice field today. This is a remarkable recovery already, just to get back on the field today. We’ll see. We are going to do one day at a time, see where he is.”

The Seahawks have a walkthrough Saturday morning before hitting the road to face the Broncos. Smith, like a number of other players, will likely be a game-day decision.
