Backstage Chapter 12: Chargers All-Star game takeover

In the latest episode of “Backstage”, there is a lot of reminiscing about the Chargers season. It starts out with general manager Tom Telesco speaking about the process of the team.

“I think 2017 was more about building a culture. Building a physical mental toughness. Getting that grit/resolve. This year I saw the players really taking ownership of that in the locker room. I saw a lot of leaders. Not just one or two guys. I saw some young players step up as leaders. We had a really good football team, but we played a better football team in New England.”

From there the episode goes on to talk about Hunter Henry and spotlight his rehab. It really starts to get interesting from there as director of player personnel JoJo Wooden speaks about being at the Senior Bowl and how winning 13 games won’t change the teams process at all.

After that you’ll see Coach Lynn and his staff at the Pro Bowl. That seemed like a good time. At one point, Lynn was this close to calling all the players and telling them to get off of their phones, but he acknowledged that “it’s not that kind of party.” It was all brand new to Lynn. He understands it’s not the day-to-day grind he’s used to. Melvin Gordon/Ingram were giving Lynn crap about how he “can’t be calm” and how he “can’t stop coaching.” That was funny.
