Backlash after latest images of 'UK's Disneyworld' The London Resort are released

Fans of the highly anticipated London Resort are asking why the theme park isn’t being built in the north of the country.

The first photos of The London Resort were released yesterday, showing what the theme park will look like when it opens in five years time.

Dubbed the ‘UK’s Disneyworld’, the new concept theme park is set to have six islands for visitors to enjoy when it opens in 2024.

The 535 acre site will be built on the Swanscombe Peninsula near Dartford, which is roughly five hours from Liverpool .

The latest images show the six areas of the park, including the High Street, The Studios, The Woods, The Kingdom, The Isles, The Jungle and Starport.

While many are excited at the prospect of the UK welcoming such a large resort, others believe it should be built elsewhere.

ECHO readers have taken to Facebook to raise concerns over the upcoming launch of the park, which will begin construction in 2021.

Rob Bridge said: “Yeah coz they're short of things to do down there aren't they. How about encouraging investment in the North instead of cramming in everything down there and charging an absolute fortune for the pleasure!”.

”Why bloody London? Why not Birmingham or somewhere central for easier accessibility for everybody!” added David Pond, though the resort is set to open near Kent rather than London itself.

Darran Davies pointed out that congestion would be an issue as the notorious Dartford Crossing could cause issues; he said: “It’ll take ya about 4 days to get over the Dartford crossing!! Already one of the most congested places in the country.”

Others were more excited about the idea of welcoming one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever in Europe.

Hundreds of readers shared the news with their family and friends, making plans to visit and save money for the trip.

Kristen Harris LaRue said: “This bucket list keeps getting longer and longer lol”, while Jessica Lacroix tagged her friend and added: “OUR FUTURE TRIP”.

Taler Rhea said: “looks like we are going to England in a couple years lol” while Cailin Allgood tagged her other half and said: “Honeymoon idea”.
