An all-new 550-mile loop along some of Northern California’s most remote and stunning coastline has just been unveiled by the Backcountry Discovery Routes, and we're here for it.
The Lost Coast BDR-X combines rugged coastal tracks, twisting mountain roads, and the quiet charm of Mendocino, Trinity, and Humboldt Counties, all wrapped up into a four-day adventure motorcycle ride. Offering dramatic ocean views and a mix of well-maintained roads and moderately difficult dirt sections, the figure-eight layout of the Lost Coast BDR-X makes planning flexible, and is designed for riders of a wide range of skill levels.
To give you a taste of what the latest BDR-X has to offer, a live film premiere and community event is being hosted on Saturday, December 13, at Scuderia West Motorcycle Dealership in San Francisco, CA – details below.
The film follows three female riders as they explore the Lost Coast BDR-X, a route that was designed by BDR Board Member and well-known ADV community member, Jocelin Snow. According to a press release from the BDR, “their journey is full of fun, camaraderie, and the kind of unforgettable moments that happen only on a remote and romantic coastal ride like this one.”

The Lost Coast BDR-X will offer riders a mix of rugged dirt sections and scenic pavement along California’s forgotten shoreline and will take approximately four days to complete. According to the BDR organization, the best time of year to ride their Lost Coast route is late May through October. They also note that access to lodging, dining, and fuel is accessible and available along the way.
You can join BDR Executive Director, Inna Thorn, as well as Route Architect, Jocelin Snow, at Scuderia West Motorcycle Dealership (1070 Maryland Street at Pier 70 in San Francisco, CA) from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 13 to watch the full Lost Coast BDR-X film, which will also be live-streamed on the BDR YouTube channel for riders everywhere to enjoy.
