The recent fall of the Berlin Wall changed the shape of Eastern Europe, the Gulf war was escalating, prison inmates rioted for 25 days at Strangeways Prison, Checkpoint Charlie was dismantled, England reached the semi-finals of Italia ‘90 and Macaulay Culkin’s life changed forever with the release of Home Alone. And that was just the beginning of the 1990s. With the new series of This Is England returning to Channel 4 on Sunday 13 September, we’d like to hear about your own memories and experiences of the decade.
Is there a particular event in the 1990s that evokes memories and shaped your future in some way? Perhaps you have a photograph you would like to share with us - an image that defines the 90s for you? Whether a particular life changing moment, a fashion statement or a favourite song that has been stuck in your head ever since, share your photographs and memories of the 1990s with us. We’ll feature the best of them on the site.
