Back to School: The verdict on the M&S school uniform collection

M&S have an incredible school uniform range to hand this year so we jumped at the chance of giving it a go.

I have headed to my local M&S store every year for my boy's uniform and I can always rely on great quality and at a really affordable price. Yes ok, I have delved into the quick uniform buying at my local Asda when doing the weekly shop but I've more often than not got the majority of it from Marks & Spencer.

The 2022/23 school, year range is now on sale and with the school year just around the corner I visited my local M&S to see if this year's uniform is still a good pick for parents.

Here we take a good look at the shapes, sizes, styles and everything else you need to know which makes a good, robust school uniform that, most importantly, lasts.

The Shirts

A multi pack is all you need for the September back to school starters. The pack costs £16 - and I already know just by Tyler trying them on they will be a great fit he can grow into for the new school year.

I always size up regardless of the store where my boy is concerned (if you know, you know) because kids just grow far too quickly and for their comfort throughout a long day in school. I don't want him to feel restricted.

I think the huge tell tale sign for me with an M&S shirt is that it holds it doesn't need an iron once hung up out of the dryer. I can honestly say I very rarely would iron his shirts unless absolutely necessary.

The Trousers

The trousers at M&S are the best quality by far we have ever had. One year I got a back up pair of trousers from Lidl just because they were so cheap but, turns out that a cheaper option definitely lacks quality.

They tick all boxes in my eyes- they are really robust too, and we can almost guarantee they will at some point need a new pair during the school year but, they seem to stay in great condition.

Again, I have had other brands before and the trousers start to bobble in the first couple of washes OR they feel like they could snap they are so stiff.

M&S have thought ahead with their trouser styles too, they have clever Supercrease technology crease lines which stay put wash after wash and grow proof hems to make them last all year if they still fit in the waist, just unpick and press for an extra 3cm.

And last but not least, the weatherproof finish repels water and stains and crease Resistant material ensure they look neat all day long. These we have tried & tested for years and they are the best school trousers we have had for Tyler in any weather- they always look smart but most importantly, comfortable for him all day.
