Applications for the Back to School in Ireland are to open in the last week in June.
The clothing and footwear allowance is a one-off means-tested payment that helps families with the extra costs that come with sending children back to school.
The upcoming school year is due to start in September - but could be later due to the ongoing pandemic.
And how much parents can receive depends on their income and the number of children they have.

When is it back?
The payments are expected to be paid during the week beginning July 6.
How long will it be available for?
The payment can be claimed on or before September 30, when the official closing date is expected to be.
What can I get if my child is aged between 4-11?
The back to school allowance for each eligible child aged 4-11 is €150.
What can I get if my child is aged 12-17 or 18-22?
The allowance for each eligible child aged 12-22 €275. Children aged between 18 and 22 years must be in full-time second-level education in a recognised school or college.
Will it be Paid Automatically ?
According to Money Guide Ireland, the Department of Social Protection pays the allowance automatically to most families that qualify.
Anyone that does qualify automatically should get a letter during June 2020 stating when and how your allowance will be paid.
If you don’t get a letter – you will need to apply if you think you are eligible.
When will I get the automatic payment?
If you're getting it paid automatically, it should be in by mid-July. However, people making new claims will have to wait longer.
