Back-to-back victories are just icing on the cake for Dwayne Haskins

If you started Dwayne Haskins in fantasy football on Sunday, then you’ll likely look at his stat sheet after the 29-21 victory over Carolina in disgust. However, if you started Haskins in the last week of the fantasy football regular season, you have much bigger problems to worry about.

The point is, his stats are nothing to write home about, but the Washington Redskins’ rookie quarterback had arguably the best game of his career on Sunday, picking up his second career victory in the NFL. He finished the game going 13-for-25 for 147 yards and zero touchdowns, but he was able to orchestrate a number of scoring drives along the way. Washington totaled 362 total yards, their most since an early October game against the Miami Dolphins. The scoring outburst may not have Haskins’ fingerprint directly on it, but his growth was extremely noticeable to anyone who was paying attention.

“Every week he’s doing something he didn’t do last week,” Derrius Guice said of Haskins, via The Athletic. “We need him. He’s the leader of the offense. We need him to keep extending plays like he’s been doing. We need to get out of the pocket and finish (plays). I feel like he’s doing a great job of picking it up and learning as he goes, and implementing it on the field.”

“(Dwayne) did a great job,” Brandon Scherff said. “We didn’t have a turnover today. He took care of the ball. He did a great job and got win number two for himself.”

As time goes on, the touchdowns will come. What’s important now is that Haskins is showing more comfortability in the pocket, and his decision making is improving. Getting a couple of wins along the way is just icing on the cake.
