'Back soon' - Freddie Woodman's message after picking up injury

Freddie Woodman is undergoing rehab after picking up a training ground injury.

Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce revealed before the draw with Leeds that the young goalkeeper had 'hurt himself' in training and wasn't fit enough to make the squad.

That made the decision to bring Karl Darlow back into the net a lot easier and the former Nottingham Forest man was crucial for United in their 1-1 draw.

Bruce didn't reveal the extent of Woodman's injury but there are reports the goalkeeper has damaged his hip.

The 24-year-old took to his Instagram page earlier this week to show him undergoing rehab - the post was captioned, 'rehab, back soon.'

Woodman could be seen in his home gym, pulling and stretching with an elastic gym band.

Undoubtedly Woodman will be frustrated with the injury having played the opening four games of the Premier League season - and despite conceding 12 goals during those fixtures, still had the backing of fans.

With Martin Dubravka now back in training after a nightmare summer, Woodman may find opportunities to fill the number one spot severely limited.
