'Back in business!' - Arsenal fans go crazy over Saliba 'recall' and Upamecano January transfer

Arsenal supporters haven't had much to celebrate of late.

Just one win across all competitions since the end of October, looking more like battling against relegation rather than challenging for the top four and there's rumours that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to leave.

However, transfer season is almost in full swing and there's nothing like a good rumour to change the mood.

What to expect from Arsenal in the January transfer window

According to our friends at the Daily Mirror - as per the Daily Star , the Gunners are considering cutting short William Saliba's loan spell at Saint-Etienne early to ease Mikel Arteta’s defensive woes.

The teenager arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window but was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit and has impressed in the seven appearances he's made so far this season.

In addition, the report claims that Arsenal are also keeping close tabs on Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, who has 18 months left to run on his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

It's no secret that the north London are in need of defensive reinforcements especially after Calum Chambers limped off in the first-half in the 2-1 loss against Chelsea.

And Arteta didn't sound too positive afterwards.

"The doctors are assessing him. The first feeling he got wasn't very positive," the Gunners head coach told reporters in his post-match press conference .

As expected, the prospect of Saliba partnering Upamecano at the heart of the Arsenal defence next month has got many supporters excited.
