Bachelor plasters himself on billboards to find a date and gets 2,000 replies

A lonely bachelor decided to speed up his search for love by advertising himself on billboards to a prospective wife.

Mohammed Malik, 29, decided to plaster a picture of himself on billboards around Birmingham and set up the website FindMalikAWife.com to improve his chances of finding the one.

But the gutsy move has proved a massive success with Malik receiving more than 1,000 responses on his website, according to BirminghamLive.

On top of that, another 1,000 people have reached out to him on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Mohammed, who is an innovation consultant and entrepreneur, spoke to Radio Five Live about the massive response he has received and explained how he would sort through the replies.

He said: "I am really pleased, I am overwhelmed actually with the responses.

"There’s been over a thousand responses now on the official channel which is the website but then even more responses, even more than a thousand through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and social media and stuff like that. It’s a nice surprise.”

He has gathered a few friends together to create spreadsheets that can organise the responses, creating columns including age, location, hobbies, and personality type.

Meetings with the final candidates will take place in the coming weeks.

The billboards, which were put up around Birmingham, show a picture of Mohammed lying on his side pointing upwards. It also includes a joke line: "Save me from an arranged marriage.

He said: "My ideal partner would be a Muslim woman in her 20s, who's striving to better her deen.

"I'm open to any ethnicity but I've got a loud Punjabi family - so you'd need to keep with the bants. Always personality and faith over anything else!

'P.S I'm an only child and look after my mom and dad. If this is a deal-breaker I don't think it'll work out."
