April 12--Mike Fleiss, the creator and producer of reality TV shows "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," has a new proposal: He's put his bluff-front retreat on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii, up for sale at $12.85 million.
Custom built for Fleiss and completed this year, the 7.3-acre compound comprises a main house of 4,515 square feet, a 500-square-foot guest house and a 656-square-foot garage. A series of hardwood decks crosses a 100-foot saltwater swimming pool to connect various parts of the home.
Expansive ocean views stretch from nearby Anini Beach to the historic Kilauea Lighthouse, and a private footpath leads to the beach below.
"It's designed so that once you arrive, you never want to leave," said listing agent Neal Norman of Hawaii Life Real Estate.
The six-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home was designed by Gary Tobey Design Concepts and built by Paradise Pacific Homes. It is currently the only new construction available on Kauai's North Shore, Norman said.
Drawing from contemporary and Bali styles, open-plan living areas feature a warming mix of bamboo-lined ceilings, hardwood floors and glass doors and windows that stretch from floor to ceiling. Modern furnishings custom made for the home are being included in the sale.
Fleiss, 51, is known for creating the popular dating game show series "The Bachelor," which just wrapped up its 20th season. Among his other credits are the series "High School Reunion," and the films "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (2003) and "Hostel" (2005).

The Hollywood producer has been in buy-and-sell mode as of late. Back on the mainland, he recently sold a Malibu compound once owned by actor Mel Gibson for $11.625 million, and bought another property in the area for $13.85 million.
