Baby wallaby leaves drivers hopping mad as it causes traffic chaos - in Carluke

T here was a very unfamiliar site in Carluke yesterday as a baby wallaby caused early morning traffic chaos.

And that left Go Radio bosses 'hopping mad' after their breakfast co-presenter, Gary Muircroft, was late for his show.

The radio show host was one of a number of motorists and locals who tried to help in catching the sprightly animal.

'Crofty,' who hosts the Go Radio breakfast show with wrestler and actor Grado, got roped into helping police catch the baby wallaby who was roaming the streets of the quiet village on Friday morning.

The presenter's late-coming excuse turned out to be true after he shared pictures of the marsupial hoping along the pavement on Twitter.

He wrote: "Late for the @thisisgoradio breakfast show with @gradowrestling this morning trying to rescue this wee guy…… #TheCarlukeWallaby.

"Hope the guy at @policescotland managed to get someone out there! #vegan @ScottishSPCA #veganradiopresenter #clydevalleyfamilypark @rickygervais."

Grado also commented: "He left me in here flapping at the thought of having to run this radio show myself.

"He still hasn't shown me how to use the buttons."

Bosses at the station confirmed to the Daily Record it was one of the weirdest 'excuses' they'd ever heard and were fuming when Crofty didn't show up on time.

But all was well when he turned up armed with photographic evidence.

It is thought that the Wallaby escaped from Clyde Family Valley Park but Scotland does boast some feral wallaby's.

The wallabies of Inchconnahan were introduced to the area in 1940 when they were brought to the area by Lady Arran.

The eccentric lady whose real name was Fiona Bryde Colquhoun also owned llamas and pigs.
