Baby taken to hospital and man arrested after incident at Edinburgh Tesco

A baby was taken to hospital after a man was arrested following an incident at Edinburgh Tesco.

Police called out to the Stenhouse branch of the supermarket around 5.30pm last night.

Officers had received reports of shoplifting at the Express store.

A 47 year-old man then charged in connection with a multiple offences including child protection, shoplifting, and drugs offences.

A seven month-old baby was taken to hospital to be checked over.

A spokes person for Police Scotland said: "A 47 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences including child protection, shoplifting and drugs offences after police were called to Stenhouse Place in Edinburgh around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 17 June.

"A seven month-old child was taken to hospital to be checked over. 

"A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

The Daily Record has contacted Tesco for comment.
