A baby died after she became wedged face down on a sofa, an inquest heard.
Indie-Vogue Hodges was just over six-months-old when she died at home in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in the early hours of Friday, September 13.
Dr Robert Hunter, senior coroner at Derby Coroner's Court, opened an inquest into her tragic death on Tuesday.
The inquest was told Indie-Vogue became wedged face-down on the sofa at the family home belonging to parents Matthew Hodges and Claire Barker.
She was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where her father formally identified her, DerbyshireLive reported .
Her death was reported by Detective Inspector Paul Bullock on the same day.
The provisional postmortem report stated the cause of death as "anoxic brain injury" which occurs when the brain is starved of oxygen.
Reading from the provisional postmortem report, Dr Hunter said: "Indie-Vogue collapsed after becoming wedged face down on a settee.
"The final cause of death is pending results of further tests."
Dr Hunter added a full inquest into Indie-Vogue's death would likely take place in several months time.
The young girl's grandmother, Lorraine Hodges, today paid tribute to her granddaughter.
"It's a waste of a life, it should never have happened. It's one of my grandchildren that I'll never see grow up," she said.
"We've had a life stolen and we'll never get it back. It's something you hear about on the news, it's not something that happens to people like us.
"But we are a close family so when one's up and one's down we support each other."
