Baby rushed to hospital after 'petrol bomb' attack on house in Co Cork

An baby boy was rushed to hospital after a suspected petrol bomb attack in Co Cork.

The attack happened in the Liffey Park area of Mayfield at around 10pm last night.

A small fire broke out inside the home and the infant was brought to the Mercy University Hospital as a precaution, Cork Beo reports.

Gardai confirmed they are investigating the incident but at the moment no arrests have been made.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at a house at Liffey Park, Mayfield at approximately 10.20pm on Thursday, February 6.

"No injuries were sustained though an infant male child was taken to Mercy University Hospital as a precaution.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
