Like many people with a penchant for over-analysis and one too many exes, I have spent the past 48 hours following the announcement of her engagement to Travis Kelce thinking about what Taylor Swift might wear when she inevitably walks down the aisle.
If you believe her songwriting has been meticulously crafted and expertly planned, just wait until you see what she does with a wedding.
Swift is a style chameleon. She has twirled through 13 musical eras, each with its own aesthetic, from the ethereal florals of Folklore to the high-octane, 70s-inspired sparkle of Midnights. Translating that kaleidoscope into bridalwear is both an impossible task and, let’s be honest, an irresistible parlour game.
Let’s begin with Vivienne Westwood, a house synonymous with drama and romance. Swift has worn Westwood many a time before, and it is easy to imagine her in a billowing gown that nods to both the Fearless and Tortured Poets eras. Think structured bodice, layers of silk, and a cathedral-length train dramatic enough to rival her own discography.

Then there’s Stella McCartney, one of Swift’s most enduring fashion allies. McCartney’s pared-back tailoring and fluid silhouettes would suit the singer’s more understated moments, particularly if she opts for something timeless over theatrical.
For those hoping for something bolder, Versace would make a compelling contender. The brand’s signature glamour – sleek lines, crystal embellishment, unapologetic confidence –speaks to the powerhouse Taylor who fills stadiums night after night, and would be a fantastic homage to the Eras Tour Versace Bodysuits that she sported when Travis first saw her in person.

Oscar de la Renta, meanwhile, offers the sort of fairy-tale opulence that aligns with Swift’s lyrical sensibilities. Lace overlays, floral appliqué, perhaps even a nod to the woodland fantasy of Evermore. It is bridalwear at its most romantic, and it would not feel out of place for a woman who has spent much of her career reimagining the concept of the modern princess. She sports de la Renta often, too.
In 2021, during the re-release of Red (Taylor’s Version), the brand Nicole and Felicia revealed a £40,000 gown of frothy proportions that immediately set tongues wagging, designed for Taylor to wear in the “I Bet You Think About Me” music video. Could Swift embrace something similarly theatrical? It would not be the first time she has turned a cultural moment into a full-scale spectacle.

Ultimately, predicting Swift’s bridal choice is a fool’s errand. She has given us cowgirl boots, sequinned bodysuits and delicate chiffon, all with equal conviction. But what we can safely assume is that, just like her music, the dress will be painstakingly considered, rich in symbolism, and designed to tell a story.
And when she finally does say yes, you can be sure an army of Swifties will be there, magnifying glasses in hand, ready to decode every stitch.

Vivienne Westwood Bridal Tabitha off-shoulder faille gown

If Taylor’s Tortured Poets era is anything to go by (which it certainly is, given that she was writing it when she met Travis), the popstar may well go with a Vivienne Westwood silhouette. Something like the Tabitha off-shoulder faille gown features structure and drama, though I imagine she’ll add a leg slit and a more dramatic train.

Reformation Alouette Dress

It’s certainly no secret that Taylor is Reformation-obsessed. I can see her harking back to her classic twee days with an Audrey Hepburn-inspired silhouette for pre-wedding celebrations, and this fitted dress with its glorious full skirt is a perfect fit.

Danielle Frankel Edie Appliquéd Silk Chiffon Gown

Danielle Frankel is the it-girl bridal designer of the 2020s. Known for striking silhouettes, intricate layering techniques and marvellous pleats, I think Taylor would enjoy working with a designer who appreciates drama but remains inspired by vintage aesthetics. This floral appliqué dress from the designer’s most recent collection is inherently ethereal and reminds me of Taylor’s style during the Folklore/Evermore period. Paired with a 70s-style lace veil, she’ll be a blushing, romantic and oh-so vintage bride.

Clio Peppiatt Evie Beaded Tiered Tulle Miniskirt

Did somebody say Showgirl? An afterparty look perfectly suited to a burlesque-loving popstar, Taylor would stun in this Clio Peppiatt corset and skirt set. Plus, she’s been spotted in various bejewelled Peppiatt party dresses over the years, sporting two different sparkly numbers from the designer for her private New Year’s party in 2024.

Kiki de Montparnasse Ange Panelled, Embellished Leavers Lace And Satin Gown

This may appear slightly left field to some, but Taylor loves a vintage, flowing silhouette. While she may not don this Kiki de Montparnasse gown to walk down the aisle, I can see her wearing this romantic, bejewelled silhouette throughout her wedding week. Let’s be real, it’s not just going to be one day of celebrations.

Vivienne Westwood Joe Petticoat Satin-Trimmed Tulle and Crinoline Maxi Skirt

Yes, another Westwood option. With Oscar de la Renta in close second, the British fashion house is top of my prediction list for Taylor’s bridal look. I can see her opting for a dramatic tulle moment with a structured corset. If fellow newly engaged brides are looking to recreate a similar silhouette, this Carrie Bradshaw-esque skirt is a great place to start.

Alex Perry Blair Asymmetric Draped Satin Gown

There’s something distinctly Grecian about this swooping, draping gown hybrid by Alex Perry, and there’s no better time to embrace your inner goddess than on your wedding day. Crafted from luxurious silk with a fitted bodice and an asymmetrical silhouette, we love that this mini option still has that romantic line of satin buttons down the spine.

Self-Portrait Tailored Belted Maxi Dress

Remember when Taylor was essentially cosplaying a Kennedy? Back in her original 1989 era? Just us?
Anyway, Swift has been known to embody classic, vintage style. This belted maxi dress by Self-Portrait, which creates the illusion of two pieces, would be fantastic for an All-American rehearsal dinner.

Ralph Lauren Collection Mulberry Silk Zachary Dress

She wore Ralph Lauren for her engagement, so who’s to say she won’t wear the designer for the big day? Swift may just buck the trend and go for something simple and sophisticated, like this elegant mulberry silk number with layered details.

Nicole + Felicia Serena Gown

Given that Taylor has worked with Nicoel + Felicia before, albeit for a music video about a crazy ex showing up at a wedding, I wouldn’t be surprised if she opted for one of the designer duo’s more dramatic silhouettes. The Serena gown is designed for and sold exclusively at Kleinfeld Bridal.
