Baby girl thrown from vehicle during car accident found alive and well in nearby storm drain

Rescuers breathed a sigh of relief after finding a baby ejected from a moving vehicle during an accident, 25-feet away in a storm drain – alive.

The baby girl flew from the vehicle after a truck sideswiped the family’s vehicle while changing lanes on Interstate 30 in Texarkana, Arkansas.

After the vehicle flipped, family members could not find the 8-month-old.

But when first responders conducted an extensive search, they found the baby in a nearby storm drain after hearing a sound from the vicinity.

“The baby … was sitting up and looking up at us waiting for us to pull her out,” firefighter Josh Moore told KSLA.

The baby suffered only minor injuries, including a scratch on her forehead, in the accident.

“There had to be some kind of divine intervention for her to end up being OK,” Mr Moore added.

Investigators found that the child was not secured in her seat properly, but did not issue citations to the family. The driver of the truck received a citation for improper lane change.

“So many times, we go out and things aren’t OK,” Texarkana Fire Capt Charlie Smith said, “and just during the holidays here to have a positive just feels good."
