Baby girl found dying of thirst after THREE days with parents’ dead bodies

A baby girl was found dying of thirst after spending three days with her parents' dead bodies in a motel room before she was finally found alive and rescued by police.

The six-month-old infant, named Skylah, was discovered after her mother, Jessica Bramer, 26, and father Christian Reed, 28, died in a suspected double overdose.

The child, who went days without any sustenance, was severely dehydrated when she was found inside a room at the Rodeway Inn near the US city of Whitehall, Michigan.

The baby girl was in a critical condition after being rushed to a hospital about an hour away in Grand Rapids, according to police.

She is expected to recover, according to reports.

An officer found the girl alive and her parents dead on Friday afternoon when asked to do a wellness check at the $90-a-night motel.

Police also found drug paraphernalia in the room.

Michigan State Police said in a statement: “It is believed that the infant child was alone in the room for a period of days (before being found).

"The six-month-old child remains in critical condition at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital."

White Lake Ambulance Authority emergency medical technician Michele Bridges told local media: "This precious baby needed a lot heroes and a lot of heroes showed up."

An autopsy was performed on both parents but the cause of death has not yet been released.

Toxicology findings are expected in about a month.

Skylah was in a critical condition but is expected to make a full recovery, Fox 6 Now reported.

Family members told local media that Bramer and Reed had been in and out of jail before their deaths.

The relatives said Skylah's grandparents contacted social services in January to express concerns about the girl's safety.

It was unclear whether any action was taken at that time or in the following months.

It was not known who will take custody of by Skylah once she is released from hospital.

There have been a number of cases in the US recently where young children have been found alone after their parents overdosed or dead after being neglected.

It comes amid an opioid crisis that kills tens of thousands of Americans every year.

In 2017, a record 48,000 overdose deaths were reported, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Police did not reveal the type of drug or drugs that Skylah's parents are suspected to have taken.

Authorities have struggled to tackle the illicit use of fentanyl - a drug 50 times more powerful than heroin - and other opiates.
