Baby dies in hospital after police called to incident in Carntyne

A baby has died in hospital after 'taking unwell' in the Carntyne area of Glasgow yesterday evening.

Police raced to an incident on Ravelston Street in the east end of Glasgow shortly after 5pm on Saturday.

The baby was rushed to hospital, but police have confirmed this morning the baby boy has sadly passed away.

Police have launched an investigation into the 'unexplained death'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Ravelston Street in Glasgow at around 5.05pm on Saturday, 26 September, 2020, after a baby had taken unwell.

"The Scottish Ambulance Service attended and the baby was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he sadly later died.

"The death is being treated as unexplained.

"Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
