Baby dies after being airlifted to hospital

A baby died after suffering a cardiac arrest at their home in Southport.

Emergency services were called to the home on Viking Close on Tuesday afternoon and the baby was airlifted to Ormskirk Hospital.

The baby died at hospital.

Merseyside Police remain at the property this evening as routine enquiries into the death are carried out.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that emergency services are in Southport following an incident yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 12 October).

“At around 4.55pm, we received a report that a baby had suffered cardiac arrest at an address on Viking Close.

“The baby was taken to hospita l and sadly later passed away.

"Officers remain at the scene today (Wednesday 13 October) while enquiries are being carried, as per normal procedures.”
