A baby was slapped so hard at his nursery school that he was left with a hand-shaped bruise on his face, his parents claim.
Glen Braun, who is just six months old, had a brain bleed and a painful injury to his face after the incident in Kansas in the US.
His mum and dad claim that when they picked him up from the nursery, he was vomiting.
Distraught dad Brett told WDAF: "As soon as I started holding him, he vomited all over me."
And he claimed medics had found "signs of abuse", after he took Glen to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
He said: "The head CT scan showed that he had a brain bleed."
And he added that he didn't understand how anyone could lash out at his young son.
Mum Sarah said a home care worker told her that the injury could have been caused by another child.
The case is being investigated by police.
While the investigation is carried out the nursery - which has not been named in reports - has had its licence suspended.
No one has been charged in connection with the incident.
