A 17-month-old boy who was bitten by a dog in a Merseyside park is now recovering at home.
A baby boy was flown to hospital by air ambulance after he was bitten on the leg by a Staffy Bull Bullmastiff in Marian Gardens, Netherton on Sunday afternoon. The injuries were described as "non-life threatening" by police. The dog was later seized by officers.
Police have now released up an update on the baby's condition. A spokesperson said: "The baby is recovering at home."
On Wednesday police told said that cross breed dog is in secure kennels and set to be assessed by a specially trained officer.
A police spokesperson said: "The dog is currently in police secure kennels awaiting assessment by a dog legislation officer."
Some witnesses said the boy was playing on a swing when the dog attacked although this has not been confirmed.

Marian Gardens is a public park near Marian Square shopping precinct. The attack is thought to have happened at around 1.25pm on Sunday.

On Sunday a spokesperson for the force said: "Emergency services were called to reports that a baby had been attacked by a dog.
"At around 1.25pm police received reports that a 17-month-old baby boy was bitten on the leg by a dog."
