Baby boy hospitalised in 'critical condition' after police called to Fife home

An infant is fighting for his life after being rushed to hospital from a Fife home last week - with a police presence maintained in the area since.

Emergency services were called to an address in Minto Crescent, Glenrothes at around 9am on Friday, June 5.

Police had received a report of “concern” for the baby boy and an investigation was launched.

Local residents report seeing forensic officers visiting the property, which is in the Macedonia area of the town, throughout the week.

A police presence has also remained on the street while enquiries are ongoing.

The child, whose age is not known, remains in hospital in Edinburgh where staff describe his condition as "critical".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of concern for an infant child at 9am on Friday, June 5 at Minto Crescent in Glenrothes.

"The baby boy was taken to hospital in Edinburgh, where he is currently in a critical condition.

"Enquiries are ongoing.”
