Baby boy aged 11 months dies after going into cardiac arrest sparking police probe

Police have launched an investigation after an 11-month-old baby suffered a cardiac arrest and died.

Officers were called to an address on Shayfield Drive, Sharston just before 10am on Tuesday after paramedics attended the scene.

The baby boy was taken to hospital but later died, Manchester Evening News reports.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) was first called to the property at 9.36am, before calling officers, reporting that the boy's heart had stopped beating.

An investigation is under way to establish the circumstance of the boy's death.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson said: "Just before 10am on Tuesday 27 October 2020, police were called by paramedics responding to reports a baby had gone into cardiac arrest at a property on Shayfield Drive, Manchester.

"An 11-month-old boy was taken to hospital and sadly died.

"An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

"No arrests have been made."

A statement released by NWAS said: "We were called to a private address on Shayfield Drive at 9.36am.

"We sent a number of vehicles to the scene including one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles."
