A baby has been born with a dark, hair-covered, back due to a skin condition. The baby, who arrived on December 28, was born in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh, India.
While the mother and baby were both healthy following the birth, the tot was born with an entirely dark-coloured back. Around 70% of its back is covered by dark hair and it also has a large wart.
Upon hearing of the unusual-looking baby, the birth reportedly drew crowds of locals coming to get a look. Doctors at the Community Health Center, in the Bawan village, said the baby had a condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus.
It causes dark, non-cancerous, skin patches made up of pigment-producing cells called melanocytes. The baby has since been sent for treatment in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh's capital.
