Baby born on motorway as mum goes into labour while driving her car

A heroic fire brigade crew delivered a newborn baby on a busy motorway after a mum called 999.

Emergency services were notified when the mother realised she was in labour whilst driving her car.

The quick-thinking fire brigade crew raced to the scene on a busy road before helping the newborn.

The Dublin Fire Brigade played a heroic role on Wednesday afternoon after being called to the M1 northbound, a report in Dublin Live revealed.

The mother and her newly born child were very quickly transported to hospital to be checked by medical staff.

A Dublin Fire Brigade tweet read: “Delivered with guidance over the 999 call, the newest #DFBaby was born in mum’s car on the #M1 northbound earlier today.

“FF/Ps from Swords and our AP crew arrived shortly after to assess mum and baby before transport to hospital.

“A speedy delivery on a speedy road. Congrats!”
