Baby Belle's name inscribed on communal headstone at angel's plot in Glasnevin

Baby Belle who was found dead on Balbriggan Beach last Christmas has had her name inscribed on a headstone in a cemetery in North Dublin.

Belle, who was found on Bell Beach on December 16, was laid to rest in Glasnevin last March after months of unsuccessful appeals for one of her parents to come forward.

No foul play was suspected but there had been huge concern for the mother's wellbeing.

Now the tragic newborn has had her name inscribed on a communal headstone at the angel's plot.

The stone reads "Belle 15-12-18".

Belle had initially been buried as an "unknown baby" as she did not legally have a name due to not possessing a birth certificate.

Only a gravedigger and undertaker present during the service which saw the white coffin brought to the cemetery by ambulance and lowered into the grave.

A huge public outcry followed the news of the funeral as upset locals had wanted to turn out to pay their respects.
