Baby and two adults taken to hospital after car flips over on motorway

A baby and two adults are in hospital after their car flipped over on the M62 today.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.20pm today after a car had flipped on the westbound carriageway at junction 36 of the motorway, near Goole in Yorkshire.

A man, woman and baby were out of the vehicle upon their arrival, reports Hull Live.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a car driving on the slip road had rolled over down the grass verge and on to the M62 landing on its roof.

Road traffic officers from Humberside Police closed the a section of the road at junction 36 as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Crews from Goole and Snaith secured the scene disconnecting the cars battery before the road was reopened shortly before 3pm.

Meanwhile, the three casualties were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by the ambulance service.

Details of their injuries are not currently known but Humberside Police confirmed that all three came away from the collision safe.

The tweet said: "Single vehicle Rtc M62 west at jnt 36 this afternoon. All occupant including young child safe. Please adjust your driving to the weather conditions."

A Humberside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “Fire crews are in attendance at an incident after reports that a vehicle had rolled on the M62.

“We have sent crews from Goole and Snaith with two fire appliances, one rescue unit and one support appliance.

“One adult female had self released from the vehicle on the crews arrival.

“And a male and baby were in an ambulance when crews arrived.

Crews made the scene safe by disconnecting the car battery.”

A Yorkshire Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We received the call at 12.30pm after reports that one vehicle had rolled over from the slip road on to the grass verge and on to the M62, landing on its roof.

“There was only one vehicle involved.

“Two ambulances and one clinical supervisor attended the incident.

“Three patients were transported to Hull Royal Infirmary.

“Specific details of their injuries are currently unknown.”
