Babri Masjid demolition case | Murli Manohar Joshi records statement

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Thursday recorded his statement before a special CBI court here in the Babri Masjid demolition case in which he is accused of criminal conspiracy.

Special CBI judge S.K. Yadav recorded the 86-year-old Mr. Joshi’s statement through video conferencing. Mr. Joshi’s long-time colleague and co-accused L.K. Advani is expected to record his statement through video conferencing on Friday.

The special court is in the process of recording the statements of the accused in the demolition case against the evidence submitted by the prosecution.

Senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh, who was the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister when the Babri Masjid was demolished by a mob of ‘karsevaks’ on December 6, 1992, has already recorded his statement. So has Uma Bharti, former Union Minister and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Singh (88) and Ms. Bharti appeared before the court in person. conducting day-to-day hearing in the case to complete its trial by August 31 as directed by the Supreme Court.
