Those who have lived near Tollcross for a few years will remember Marcella's, the quirky Italian bakery and restaurant tucked away on Brougham Place.
The eatery, well-known for its brilliant pastas, has been shut since owner and chef Angelo sadly passed away in 2018.
But the property is about to get a new lease of life when an artisan bakery opens this week.
Babka will specialise in a sweet treat of the same name, as well as bagels and handmade bread.
Owner Alasdair Thanisch says it will have vegetarian and vegan options too.
He said: "On the former site of the much beloved Marcella's, Babka is an artisan bakery with a Central-East European influence providing a range of breads, filled bagels, quality Italian coffee, and, of course, the eponymous babkas.
"All breads are handmade on site and (unless otherwise stated) baked on the day. Gluten free options are available on request - as are vegan babkas."
Babka is due to have its grand opening day on Wednesday. Its provisional opening hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
