Several young children were uninjured in a crash Wednesday that left a man hospitalized in West Town, according to police.

The man, 51, was driving west about 7:45 p.m. when he lost control of his minivan in the 2700 block of West Grand Avenue and crashed into a light pole, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital with blunt force injuries to multiple parts of his body, and was listed in good condition.

Police said that a 3-year-old girl and two boys, 2 and 4 years old, were uninjured.

Chicago Fire Department officials initially said two boys, 1 and 3 years old, a 2-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 51-year-old man were all hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition after the crash.
