B2.5bn meth pills, heroin seized

Four people from Tak province were arrested in Sukhothai's Muang district and 10 million methamphetamine pills and 35 kilogrammes of heroin seized from their vehicle on Sunday evening.

Police put the total value of the drugs at 2.5 billion baht. 

The suspects were identified as Prawit sae Ma, 67, Ying sae Ma, 54, Napa Kitpanitsakul, 33, and Kue sae Ma, 49.

The drugs were discovered hidden under cargo on their pickup truck after it was stopped and searched on the Sukhothai-Tak bypass in tambon Ban Kluai of Sukhothai's Muang district on Sunday evening.

Pol Lt Gen Sommai Kongwisaisuk, commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, said the drugs were being smuggled from Phaya Mengrai district of Chiang Rai for delivery to a trafficker in Ayutthaya, and onward shipment.

The heroin was in 100 packages.
