B*Witched star Sinead O’Carroll says joining RTE's Dancing With The Stars is 'surreal'

B*Witched star Sinead O’Carroll will put her glad rags on after a 17-year hiatus to join Dancing With The Stars.

The 90s pop star is the latest addition to the fourth series of the popular show alongside Lottie Ryan, Mary Kennedy and Glenda Gilson.

And the 46-year old mum of two has said she has always wanted to showcase her moves on the dance floor.

She said: “I’m just super excited. I’ve wanted to do this for the last few years so the fact that I’m doing it now, is so surreal.

“My kids are so excited; they just told me I have to be good...so the pressure is on from them.”

The music teacher said she will be out of her comfort zone having always been on stage with the rest of the B*witched girls.

She told Jennifer Zamparelli on RTÉ 2FM: “I suppose...I’m a little bit nervous too about stepping out and doing something by myself as I always had the girls around me.

“But I think once I get the first dance done, I’ll hopefully be fine.”

Taking to her Instagram after announcing the news, the music teacher said she was ready for all of the “glitter, glam, blisters” and the dancing.

And said her phone “had gone crazy” after the news broke and she wanted to thank everyone who got in touch with their good luck messages.

Speaking in a preview clip with Dancing with the Stars reporter James Patrice, Sinead compared her signature dance move to Kylie Minogue’s spinning technique and said she “wasn’t too bad” at dancing overall.

O’Carroll will have tough competition to get her hands on the glitter ball as dancer and Fair City star Ryan Andrews and trained dancer Lottie Ryan will also have their eye on the prize.

The trio will also join Olympic hero Michael Carruth and Virgin Media presenter Glenda Gilson for the 2020 series and former Big Brother star Brian Dowling.

Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne will be back as hosts when Dancing with the Stars returns to RTÉ One on Sunday, January 5 at 6:30pm.

They will be joined by returning judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson, with a new DWTS podcast hosted by James Patrice airing every Monday.

Rehearsals for the Sunday night programme started this week in Dublin city centre.
