B*Witched singer Edele Lynch admits their hit tune 'C'est La Vie' should come with a warning

B*Witched singer Edele Lynch has said their hit single C’est La Vie should come with a warning – after she received messages from fans who have broken their ankles dancing to the tune.

The Dubliner said the 90s number has been responsible for many broken bones from overzealous punters dancing to it on the dance floor over the years.

She said the song should come with a warning for fans.

Edele said: “The thing is it should come with a warning because we’ve had so many messages with people breaking their ankles and stuff.”

Edele recalled how she met a man who broke his arm recently dancing to the song – and he made her sign his cast as compensation for the fall.

“Only recently I was with my daughter – she races cars – and when I was checking her in for one of the events the guy behind the counter had a broken arm and I said ‘what have you done?’ and he said ‘well I broke my arm dancing to an Irish song’.

“And I said ‘what song was that?’ and he kind of just didn’t answer and then about an hour later he tip-toes towards me and went ‘you know what I’m going to say’ and I said ‘yes, I broke your arm, didn’t I?’ and he said, ‘you did’.

“He made me sign it,” she told presenter Hayley Palmer ahead of her show Saturday Night with Hayley Palmer, which airs on Freeview Channel 271, at 9pm in the UK.

Lindsay quipped: “It’s so dangerous.”

In 2018, a bride revealed she had broken both her feet dancing to the song on her wedding night.

Lyndsey Henderson, 30, boogied along to the hit 90s song with her new husband Sean Henderson, 28, and their 100 guests at their UK wedding reception at the Cadbury's Factory in Birmingham.

She said at the time: “It was around 11pm and the DJ put the song on and I was doing my best Michael Flatley with all my bridesmaids.

“Then when I went a bit freestyle I managed to jump up and land on the sides of my feet.

“At first I didn’t realise what had happened. I noticed I landed funny but didn’t give it a second thought.

“I kept on dancing for another six songs and even had a dance with my dad to Wonderful Tonight afterwards.

“It wasn’t until the next day when I started walking a bit weird on my left foot that I thought something was up. But I just thought it was a sprain.

“I spent the Sunday with Sean just watching movies and chilling out."

Two days later, Lindsay went to A&E at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was told she would need to wear two casts and rest for up to six weeks.

The band - made up of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, 43, Lindsay Armaou, 44, and Sinéad O'Carroll, 49 - have reunited to celebrate their 25th anniversary, a decade after splitting up.

Their new single 'Birthday' was released earlier this month.

Lindsay revealed their old producer got back in touch with the band in lockdown after listening to their B*Witched podcast.

“It generated a feeling of let’s get together again and try something new," she added.
