B/R considers a trip to the NFC title game a successful season for the Vikings

For a team that has never won a Super Bowl, the Vikings sure have found a way to be competitive on a consistent basis.

Minnesota is tied with Buffalo for the most Super Bowl appearances without a title, doing so four times.

The Vikings also have the best winning percentage of any team without a Super Bowl victory. The team’s .547 winning percentage is the seventh most in the NFL.

For Bleacher Report, the outlet would consider Minnesota making the NFC title game as a successful season. Here’s what it said about the Vikings:

“Cousins is coming off the best year of his career and still has plenty of support on both sides of the ball: Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen are established stars on offense, and Danielle Hunter, Anthony Barr and Harrison Smith have similar qualifications on defense. Thus, the goal has to be a Super Bowl run in Minnesota.

But a trip to the NFC Championship Game would at least indicate progress. That is the bare minimum.”

So the explanation makes it a little better, but I think just an appearance in the NFC title game would still be disappointing. Despite the loftiness of a Super Bowl, I think anything less would frustrate Vikings fans a bit, especially considering the team has at least been in playoff contention these past few years, but have yet to string an extremely good run through the postseason.
