DIY chain B&Q has announced that it is reopening a further 61 stores from today following a successful trial run.
Over the weekend, the firm revealed it was planning on reopening 14 of its stores.
Two branches reopened on Saturday morning - at Paisley and West Thurrock - with a dozen more to follow.
That list has now been massively expanded, with a B&Q spokesperson telling ExaminerLive that "strict social distancing measures" would be in place in all stores.
This includes North East stores in Scotswood, Washington and North Shields .
The DIY chain has been closed since the end of March after the UK was put into lockdown, although customers have been able to use click and collect services to purchase goods.
There are plans for two metre floor markers throughout stores to help people keep their distance and perspex screens at the checkouts.
