B&Q Longwell Green coronavirus cases mean council have put outbreak plan in action

Council leaders have launched their 'outbreak plan' after two employees tested positive for coronavirus at Longwell Green.

The DIY store was closed on Monday (August 24) to allow for a professional deep-clean to take place. It's understood the shop re-opened today.

Since the news was announced, South Gloucestershire Council has put its 'Test & Trace system' into action.

A spokesperson said: We are aware of the positive cases among individuals who work at the B&Q store in Longwell Green and under the processes set out in our Local Outbreak Management Plan, we are working with our colleagues at PHE and the store management to ensure that all the appropriate guidance is followed to protect public safety.

"The Test & Trace system will also be following up with the close contacts of the individuals who have tested positive to ensure they get tested if necessary, and that they act appropriately.

Speaking yesterday, a B&Q spokeswoman confirmed two team members, who had recently been on shift, tested positive for Covid-19.

She said: "Closing the store for deep cleaning is a precautionary measure and goes beyond government advice."
