B&M updates rules on who is allowed to shop in stores

After weeks of long queues, empty shelves and general uncertainty, shopping for essentials finally seems to be getting back to normal - or at least the 'new normal', anyway.

But with so many new rules, social distancing guidelines and changes to opening hours to keep on top of, it can be difficult to keep up to date with what's going on in each store, and how you can shop safely within the guidelines.

The latest store to cause confusion with its rules, is B&M.

According to Kent Live,  a sign was spotted outside the Folkestone store which said pairs shopping together 'would be asked to leave'.

After a picture of the sign began to do the rounds on social media, shoppers quizzed B&M on its rules for who is allowed to shop in stores, and whether families and couples are permitted to go inside together.

Responding to the questions, B&M has said shopping alone is encouraged - a message which has been endorsed by other big name supermarkets and home stores.

A spokesperson for B&M clarified: "Our policy is that customers should shop alone where they can, we appreciate that this isn’t always possible for customers so we do make allowances."
