B&M shopper describes 'horrible' situation with social distancing guidelines ignored in store

A customer claimed she was faced with a "horrible" situation when visiting a branch of a B&M Home store with staff and shoppers failing to observe social distancing measures.

The woman, who wished to be anonymous, claims there was "no social distancing at all" when she visited a branch of the discount retailer in Imperial Retail Park, Bristol.

The Government has advised people to keep a minimum of two metres apart amid the coronavirus pandemic, but the customer alleges this was not happening at B&M, reports BristolLive.

She said: "No staff were wearing masks or gloves. They were laughing and joking in the aisles within close proximity of each other.

"The staff were not social distancing themselves at all from colleagues or from the public. People were walking in both directions in the aisles.

"It was quite horrible. To find so many people in the store with no social distancing at all was very unpleasant."

The shopper also claimed there was no monitoring of customers entering and leaving the store.

She claimed: "I did email the B&M Customer Services and I received a response, but they didn’t ask [which Bristol B&M branch] it was or anything."

The email from B&M says: "Please rest assured that we'll look into your feedback on the Bristol store and pick up with the team to ensure it meets the standards we expect as a business – and I want to reassure you that we've made sure that we've gone above and beyond the guidelines and advice set out by the Government."

B&M has been approached for comment.
