Bargain chain B&M is selling winter warmer electric blankets it claims can keep people warm for just 1p per hour. The 'energy-saving' product, created by Silent Night, is available in single, double and king size and comes with overheat protection, the company's Instagram page says.
Its Instagram post adds: "Get ready to save and keep warm from only 1p per hour with your very own Silentnight Electric Blanket! It will keep you warm and snuggly through the chilly winter nights." Prices for the product range from £25 to £35 and comes with three heat settings.
But the product got a mixed response from shoppers online. One customer said on the post: "I got myself and my children one last winter, you really only need it a short while anyway as it does get amazingly warm, seriously fantastic."
Another shopper added: "Bought this, it's fab." However, not everyone was so complimentary of the product. "I bet this isn't based on the energy price increase," said one skeptical commenter. While another added: "From 1p an hour? What does that even mean? Surely that can be said for anything you plug into the mains? Don’t get me wrong, I love my electric blanket and wouldn’t be without it but the marketing is beyond frustrating!"
