The Christmas Day lunch is the highlight of the day and probably the one time the entire family - and often one or two extra relatives - sit down together during a hectic day.
While its preparation and cooking is a big deal, the meal tends to be one that everyone looks forward to and usually it's a costly affair, with the turkey - the crowning glory of the table - being the biggest expense.
But that doesn't have to be the case says bargain store B&M which has just announced a new frozen Christmas food range which means that families can enjoy an entire lunch - including two meats - for less than £26: £25.19 to be exact.
With items starting at just £1, the range includes all the main components for a traditional lunch with the most expensive being the turkey at £9.
B&M says its range - which will be on sale at five of its stores in the North East - includes:
Turkey Parcel - £9
A boneless turkey breast with sage and onion stuffing, wrapped in smoked bacon, which will take two hours and 45 minutes to cook.
Diamond-scored Gammon - £6
A gammon joint with a spiced honey glaze coating
Pigs in Blankets - £2
A 12-pack of chipolata sausages wrapped in smoked, streaky bacon
Cauliflower Cheese - £1.75
A change from the usual veg accompaniment, this features cauliflower pieces in a mature Cheddar sauce
Dauphinoise Potatoes - £1.75
Sliced potatoes layered with a creamy cheese sauce
Seasons Harvest Brussels Sprouts - £1
Sprouts frozen within hours of harvest
Seasons Harvest Carrot Baton s - £1
Aunt Bessie's Roast Potatoes - £1.50
Aunt Bessie's Honey Parsnips - £1.19
The £25.19 total doesn't factor in gravy but that won't break the bank. And to add a dessert, the B&M range includes a Luxury Salted Caramel Pavlova for £4.
The range is available in selected B&M stores nationwide and in the North East the included locations are Wallsend; Sunderland - Hylton; Sunderland Ryhope; Consett and Hartlepool's Teesbay Retail Park.
